Adolescents 18 and up & Adults

Hi, my name is Susan Jessup.

I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia, and completed my studies at the University of Georgia, where I received a bachelor’s degree in psychology, followed by a master’s degree in social work.

I have over 20 years of experience working as a licensed clinical social worker and licensed clinical addictions specialist, treating adults experiencing a myriad of mental health and/or substance abuse issues both in inpatient and outpatient settings.

I spent the past 12+ years employed by the Department of Defense, providing critical mental health and addiction treatment services to active-duty service members and their dependents.

In recent years I recognized a significant gap in available treatment options for those struggling with pornography and sexual addictions. To address this need I pursued further training and am now in the final phase of certification as a sex addiction therapist through the American Association of Sex Addiction Therapists (AASAT).

I have extensive training, experience, and expertise in the following evidence-based treatment modalities:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Exposure Relaxation Rescripting Therapy (ERRT)
  • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT)
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Brief Solution-Focused Therapy (BSFT)
  • Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)
  • Trauma-informed treatment utilizing family system, developmental, and psychodynamic approaches.

What to expect in treatment: I come into the therapeutic relationship with a core understanding that my client is the absolute subject matter expert on who they are, their thoughts, feelings, perceptions, values, experiences, and history. There is tremendous evidence to support that the number one indicator of positive treatment outcomes is based on the strength of the therapeutic relationship. Therapeutic rapport and trust are maintained when the subject matter expert is the primary guide; I bring the required tools to get the job done and use them collaboratively to achieve my client’s expressed goals for personal growth and/or change.
